Long-press an empty area of your home screen, choose Widgets, and find TimeBorn. Drop it where you want it and resize it like any other widget. You can also tap SET on a face inside the app to jump straight to your launcher’s widget picker.

Tap SET; Android opens its live-wallpaper preview and you confirm with “Set wallpaper”. Unlike the widget, the wallpaper draws itself continuously, so the last digits genuinely move.

Some phones suspend scheduled refreshes for apps they consider idle, especially with aggressive battery optimisation. Open Android Settings, then Apps, then TimeBorn, then Battery, and allow unrestricted background use. Then open the app once. The widget re-arms its refresh every time the app launches and after a restart.

Widgets cannot run their own clock: Android only redraws a widget when the system wakes it. TimeBorn does not use exact alarms, so on Android 12 and later the widget refreshes at the interval the system allows, and Android may batch or delay those refreshes to save power. That means the widget can tick less often than the wallpaper and skip steps at high precision. If you want the last digits genuinely moving, that is what the live wallpaper is for.

Make sure you confirmed with “Set wallpaper” in the Android preview and chose Home screen (or Home and lock screen). Some launchers cache the old wallpaper; going back to the home screen or restarting the launcher usually refreshes it. If the timer is there but your photo is not, pick the photo again in the Wallpaper screen so the app can make a fresh private copy.

The number of digits after the decimal point. At 2 decimals the counter changes about every 3.6 days; at 6, every 30 seconds; at 10, every 3 milliseconds, about 300 times a second. Widgets go to 7, the wallpaper to 10.

Elapsed time since the birth date you entered, divided by a mean Gregorian year of 365.2425 days. It is arithmetic for interest and decoration, not a legal record.

At low precision, no. A widget redrawing a few times an hour is negligible. At 9 to 10 decimals the wallpaper redraws at your screen’s refresh rate while it is visible, like a game would. It stops entirely when the screen is off or another app is in front. If battery matters more than the last digits, drop the precision a step or two.

No. The app has no network permission and cannot send anything anywhere. Your birth date, your choices and a private copy of your wallpaper photo stay on the device.

You will never see a permission prompt from TimeBorn. The only permission it declares is “run at startup”, which Android grants at install; it lets the widget re-arm its refresh after a reboot. Picking a wallpaper photo goes through the Android system picker, so the app receives the one file you choose and nothing else from your library.

Everything the app stored is removed with it. There is no server copy, because there is no server. If you use Android backup, a copy of your settings may remain in your own Google account under Google’s terms.
